New tins! The biggest one is a cookie jar, then a fruit and nut jar and last a tea jar... Jesse's verdict was that mostly my taste is brilliant but these are the worst of it...pure old lady according to him but returning things to a thrift store is a bit awkward and also I adore them. I think he has warmed up to them once he realized ever since I bought them the biggest one has been constantly stocked with cookies. Cold weather makes me bake all the time. Also picked up a boxed set of swing records from the 30s...in original packaging! There must be at least ten records...we've been listening to them and having impromptu dances constantly. Definitely improves our quality of life!
This beautiful vintage radio that WORKS! Jesse actually picked up two of these for a grand total of Five Bucks at a local garage sale! Now we don't have to camp out in our car while listening to a fabulous piece on NPR...we can dash into the apartment and sit on the ottoman next to this (the volume is not all one would wish). So great. The other one is louder but only loud...no low volume option, which would be great if I wanted to turn it on in the living room then go take a shower every time I wanted a bit of NPR but frankly I'd rather have more options... not that this one gives us a ton of options cause we have to sit next to it to hear but it also looks better so there you go!
This was pretty sad...I don't know the politics behind this at all but evidently this mental health clinic got shut down recently by Rahm Emanuel and people have been chalking up protests and pleas for help.
I love the details in architecture like these...just a bank building in an average part of town but they took the time to use these gorgeous tiles (glazed bricks maybe?? I have no idea what these are actually!). I wish there was more craftsmanship in current architecture.
