As promised here are this weeks camping photos...We did end up getting our new lens in the mail in the brink of time so we had so much fun playing with that all weekend! We ate good food, read good books, swam in the lake, napped on the beach... all around good weekend. And here are the photos to prove it!
this was the first of our boxelder bug infestation... they literally took over our tent. The sound of their feet sounded like rain. We pitched tent in the dark and all we can figure is we were on top of their nest... there were babies by the thousands, teenage size ones and adult ones and everywhere in between. Thankfully they dont bite or stink or anything, never got inside the tent and shook off fairly easily.
Jesse waited very patiently to go swimming... and took most of these photos so far in the downtime!
beach reading... I'm the Siberians, Jesse's the Calvinist... in this instance
this is kind of hilarious... notice the do not boil section: "boiling concentrates the nitrate and increases the hazard [what the heck???!!!]. Filtering, freezing or letting the water stand does not reduce the nitrate level." Dang. They are screwed.
here's to you Chelle! even though even I thought he was cute...mainly cause I love Chip and Dale.
his favorite thing to say right now... from Pingu also the road to Kettle Moraine is called Lo. So he said it a lot.
I decided this grave needed flowers cause it was so old the name was rubbed off and probably no one has left flowers there in one hundred years.
this is our farm in Wisconsin. Its for sale and we stopped to look in the windows cause it was the prettiest house ever. The farmer from across the road rode over in his tractor and told us the whole history of the house and then of his house and he said that some old couple from the South had made an offer on it but he wished that they hadn't so that a nice young couple like us could buy it. It was so nice cause he actually took us seriously and assumed we could buy it (which weirdly enough we pretty much could have!). He had completely rebuilt his house and this one needed a lot of work which was the main reason he wanted a young couple...he said, "it would be so convenient for you, I could just pop over the road and help you out with building things! this old couple will be too set in their ways." You should have seen the floor in the kitchen, wide wood blanks, worn smooth and shiny from time!
"I'm cobbling..." (assignment: watch Away We Go again) but really he's whittling. Whittling is one of the prettier words in all of English.
