Jets, Fishing and Lullabies

Its birthday week around here! Cam and I have been spending lots of time together this week because it was this big guys birthday and he's been having lots of special outings with mom and dad (Cam's birthday is this week too but not yet) :

He turned three this week and starts school next week! Look how big he looks here! and very handsome. We were watching the jets scream over the city and the lake from our ringside seat at the beach...it was very loud hence the ear protection (which were supposed to be for Cam but he preferred hiding his face in my lap whenever he saw a jet coming...I'm not complaining! so cute)

Due to a summer cold and teething Cam has been really into snuggling up with books and lullabies....Lately his favorite songs have been You and I, Oh the Deep Deep and Sur le Pont Avignon.

Other end of summer activities have been going on a walk without a stroller for Cam!

"Will you look at that DANDELION?! and an ANT!" -what he would have said if he could.... really it was more like scowl...bah! mmbel du da.

"And a Squirrel!!! Good thing I learned how to wave the other day!" We waved at the squirrel for about ten minutes while we waited for the rain to stop (the tree was protecting us).

On a side note, did you know that squirrel was on menus in very fancy restaurants across the country (not just in the South), even in Chicago, as recently as the 60s??? crazy things you learn from the Chicago Reader...check out this article!

And fishing at Humboldt Park! We caught "seaweed" which I was quite happy with...I didn't tell him he'd at least need a worm on our paper clip hook if he wanted an actual fish. Worms are too snakey for me... Also I haven't seen any worms in Chicago... weird, just realized that...
