Summer Weekend In Chicago

by Brittany

This was a few weeks ago but we are staying on a 120 acre farm up in Wisconsin for this weekend so I'm guessing I won't have a chance to post any new material!

Practically every weekend all summer long there will be at least one, usually many more than that, street closed for a festival! There's always music and tons of food trucks and free things! Plus lots of expensive DIY projects made by not myself.

This poor band's show got rained out but they were so good... we stood in the downpour for like two whole songs to keep up their spirits! ha... There were about four other people total watching them and we all liked them but couldn't figure out their name for the longest time...then we did. They are the Communist Daughter. So that was cool.

Had lunch at our favorite taco place, Picante. I always get the chicken tacos and Jesse always gets the steak burrito. So good. Also they have amazing horchata that I drank for a while and every time it was so delicious like melted ice cream... but then I got super sick...apparently it basically is melted ice cream. Bummer.

Jesse wouldn't believe me when I told him I could not do pull ups... so we marched on over to the playground to prove my point (it was flattering that he thought I was strong). I could not. He could. Over and over.

But turns out I have other talents! Thanks to all those years of dancing...

There was another festival that weekend... a carnival actually! It was so fun to ride a roller coaster, pirate ship (that one that swings back and forth super high!) and teacups on the street you ride down everyday! got to check out the rooftops!

We also discovered an amazing restaurant called Filo that's just randomly gluten free and three blocks from our apartment and right in front of the said carnival. Oh and also BYOB (our new favorite thing... buy a cheap bottle of wine and pretend to be fabulously rich at restaurants...tip: don't buy a twist off. Its embarrassing). So we ate there with a group of friends and rode the rides afterwards!

A classically great weekend!
