Art Class is Over

When I sat down in my art class ten weeks ago the teacher made us go around and share what kept us from drawing. For me, drawing felt like a waste of time. I could always think of other things I could be doing. For others, they believed they had no artistic talent and so had never tired... 

This class was a fantastic way to learn about creativity. The first picture shows the typical way I approached drawing... mapping symbols i.e. here is an eye. The whole concept of this class was to draw what you see not what you know!  In the second drawing the absence of a line produces an eye....  

I didn't post these pictures because they are some how great works of art, but to show the difference in style. I still struggle to get away from the lines, edges, and rules.... but I feel a lot more confident drawing.... even if I look   a little too shaded in....
