One of the baristas at this Caffe Vita was from Seattle, he used to work at the Ballard Fiore! So that was fun chatting with him for a while. And while we were here you called me, Chelle, to tell me you couldn't talk right then, which was hilarious and such a you thing to do!!! I loved it.

Our time in New York was especially sweet this time around, I think because we didn't go to Brooklyn and because we felt no need to see anything in particular. We stayed in our favorite neighborhood, the Lower East Side, ate at a lovely hole in the wall called The Smile (so quixotic and it was on Bond Street...which was a few blocks from Stanton Street), bought books for our flight at a little used bookstore on Bleeker St, and spent a lot of time simply people watching at Washington Square Park.

This guy and his pigeon were deep in conversation, as you can see. Another pigeon tried to elbow his way in but got very firmly shoo'd.
